Found in gardens and open areas, including agricultural land. Scarce in Scotland with only a few records from the Outer Hebrides (South Uist)

The larvae feed on the roots and shoots of wild and cultivated brassicas. the larvae are generally subterranean and are known as "cutworms". A pest of root crops.
