Nymphula nitidulata  (Hufnagel, 1767)

Beautiful China-mark

A distinctive moth which flies in the evening and from April to August. The larvae are aquatic, feeding on bur-reed, Sparganium and other water plant, living within transportable case made from plant material, similar to caddis fly larvae. Although suitable habitat is widespread, this species was not recorded in the Outer Hebrides until 2019.
