Rare in Scotland with most records from the Outer Hebridean southern islands, flighting from June to August. Found in coastal and inland site such as sand-dunes, gardens, hedgerows and scrub. Very much a coastal species with the larvae feeding on the flamboyantly named, maritime sunburst lichen (Xanthoria parietina).
