Mottled Beauty

A widespread and common species. On the wing from late June to August in woodland, scrub and gardens. The larvae feed on numerous woody plants including heather (Calluna vulgaris), blackthorn (Prunus spinosa), birches (Betula spp.) and brambles in the family Rosaceae.
