Gold Spangle

A rather striking but scarce species reported several times in recent years. It flies in July and August and may be found in a variety of habitats. Caterpillars feed on a wide range of herbaceous plants which includes stinging nettle (Urtica dioica), white dead-nettle (Lamium album) and honeysuckle (Lonicera periclymenum).
