Acleris hastiana (Linnaeus, 1758)

The chameleon of the British tortrices being extremely variable, with dozens of named forms. Well-marked specimens are strikingly beautiful. It is well represented on the islands. Bivoltine in much of its range but in Scotland it is usually single brooded emerging in September and overwintering until April. Food-plants include willows (Salix spp.) and bog-myrtle (Myrica gale).
