Ennomos alniaria (Linnaeus, 1758)
Canary-shouldered Thorn
A late summer and early autumn moth which is on the wing from July to October. Although it is attracted to light, there are only two recent records, both from South Uist. It is widespread in Scotland but may be scarce in the islands due to the relative scarcity of the larval food-plants: the leaves of deciduous trees.
