Anerastia lotella (Hübner, [1813])
Sandhill Knot-horn
A rare species in Scotland with the first record for the Outer Hebrides in 2018, with four subsequent records all from the same area of South Uist. The flight period is late May to August over coastal sand-dunes. The larvae feed upon a variety of grasses including marram (Ammophila arenaria) and sheep’s-fescue (Festuca ovina).
