Family: Crambidae   Checklist Number: 63.102

Catoptria falsella ([Denis & Schiffermüller], 1775)

Chequered Grass-veneer

New for the Outer Hebrides in 2025, light-trapped in July at Stornoway. A remarkable record as there are no records north of the Great Glen on NBN Atlas. The two main Scottish populations are in Aberdeenshire and north of the Solway. It flies between June and September when it can be found among mosses, which are its foodplant.
