Family: Lyonetiidae Checklist Number: 20.001
Lyonetia clerkella (Linnaeus, 1758)
Apple Leaf Miner
The Scottish distribution is largely east coast with a few dotted records from the west. First recorded on the Outer Hebrides from Harris in August 2025. The main flight period is from May to October in gardens, hedgerows and scrubland. The common name is a little misleading as the larvae mine the leaves of several fruit trees plus many other shrubs and trees.
