A rare species, first recorded on the Outer Hebrides in 2011 and generally uncommon in the northern part of its range. A variable species but the dark costa mark near the trailing edge is characteristic even in worn specimens. Active from May to September. A large range of herbaceous plants are used including species common to the islands. They include meadowsweet (Filipendula ulmaria), yellow iris (Iris pseudacorus), great willowherb (Epilobium hirsutum), sea aster (Aster tripolium), and many garden varieties
